چکیده

We report on a 90 ks Suzaku observation of the radio-loud quasar 4C +74.26. The source was observed in its highest flux state to date, and we find that it brightened by about 20 per cent during the observation. We see evidence of spectral hardening as the count rate increases and also find that the rms variability increases with energy up to about 4 keV. We clearly detect a broadened Fe line but conclude that it does not require any emission from inside about 50 rg, although a much smaller inner radius cannot be ruled out. The large inner radius of our best fit implies that the inner disc is either missing or not strongly illuminated. We suggest that the latter scenario may occur if the power-law source is located high above the disc, or if the emission is beamed away from the disc.

X-ray and optical study of the giant radio quasar 4C+74.26

We present the optical and X-ray study of the radioloud quasar 4C +74.26. The ASCA spectrum is rather complex with indications of a reflection component, a neutral iron line and a warm absorber. The underlying power law has a photon index of Γ = 2.03± 0.09. The soft X-ray flux in 1996 is nearly twice as high as that found in a ROSAT observation in 1993 without apparent spectral changes. The X-r...

A complete view of the broad-line radio galaxy 4C+74.26 with XMM-Newton

This paper presents a timing study and broadband spectral analysis of the broad-line radio galaxy 4C+74.26 based on a 35 ks XMM-Newton observation. As found in previous datasets, the source exhibits no evidence for rapid variability, and its 0.2–10 keV lightcurve is well fit by a constant. An excellent fit to the pn 0.3–12 keV spectrum was found using a continuum that combines an ionized and a ...

The Jet-disk Connection: Evidence for a Reinterpretation in Radio-loud and Radio-quiet Active Galactic Nuclei

To constrain models of the jet–disc connection, we explore Eddington ratios reported in Foschini (2011) and interpret them in relation to the values in Sikora et al. across the active galactic nuclei population from radio loud quasars, their flat spectrum radio quasar subclass, the recently discovered gamma-ray loud narrow-line type 1 Seyfert galaxies, Fanaroff–Riley type I (FR I) radio galaxie...

The Accretion Geometry in Radio-loud Active Galaxies

We review the latest attempts to determine the accretion geometry in radio-loud active galactic nuclei (AGN). These objects, which comprise ∼ 10−20% of the AGN population, produce powerful collimated radio jets that can extend thousands of parsecs from the center of the host galaxy. Recent multiwavelength surveys have shown that radio-loudness is more common in low-luminosity AGN than in higher...

Accretion disc - corona and jet emission from the radio - loud Narrow Line Seyfert

We perform X-ray/UV spectral and X-ray variability studies of the radio-loud Narrow Line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) galaxy RXJ1633.3+4719 using XMM-Newton and Suzaku observations from 2011 and 2012. The 0.3−10 keV spectra consist of an ultra-soft component described by an accretion disc blackbody (kTin = 39.6 +11.2 −5.5 eV) and a power-law due to the thermal Comptonization (Γ = 1.96 −0.31) of the disc em...
